Folk Soap Sandalwood and Vanilla Shaving Soap
We’ve had a fantastic run of artisan soaps recently (and it’s not ending anytime soon). Folk Soap is a small, environmentally conscious artisan soap maker from Wales that creates a range of skin loving products. Every soap is handmade in a small batch using locally sourced natural ingredients that are known to be kind to the skin. Their sandalwood and vanilla shaving soap smells absolutely incredible. The classic sandalwood scent that’s often used for a traditional shaving soap due to its natural antibacterial properties has been brought to life with a hint of vanilla and a touch of bergamot and frankincense. The lather itself is amazing, especially considering it’s a tallow-free vegan shaving soap. Effortlessly easy to whip into a dense cushioning lather and quite thirsty too so you don’t have to worry about using too much water. The lather is stable and remains throughout the shave, softening the hairs and leaving the skin feeling comfortable and well moisturised.
To use: Load a slightly damp brush (not dripping) on the top of the soap for a few seconds and then build your lather separately in a bowl or in your hand, adding a bit of water at a time, until you have a soft and creamy, meringue-like consistency.
Mr Bear Family Face Scrub
Mr Bear Family is a beautifully presented brand from Sweden that started back in 2012. Originally a line of handmade beard care products, they’ve expanded their range to include all manner of high quality grooming items for the discerning gent. By keeping their production in-house at their own manufacturing facility they are able to create recipes, blend and produce most of their products themselves to ensure the quality has remained the same high standard as they’ve grown. Using a face scrub pre-shave is an important part of your grooming routine because it lifts up hairs, priming them for the razor, as well as providing a smooth surface for the blade to glide over uninhibited for a super close shave. This face scrub does exactly that whilst also being made with cocoa butter, rapeseed and sunflower oil to soothe and soften the skin at the same time, leaving it moisturised and ready for the shave ahead. The wonderfully fresh scent of citrus and ginger will invigorate your morning routine. We particularly loved that it comes in this recyclable aluminium tube and is free from micro plastics.
To use: Very gently massage a pea-sized amount of face scrub in circular motions onto damp skin for 30 seconds. Best used in the shower as part of your pre-shaving routine. Only a light touch is needed to achieve the desired results. Be careful not to over exfoliate as this can lead to irritation.
Raw Supremo Supreme Smoother Face Moisturiser
Raw Supremo is a brand new male grooming brand onto the scene with a fresh and invigorating take on men’s skincare. Feeling that men’s grooming brands these days were lacking in colour and energy, Raw Supremo was conceived on the idea that there was a gap in the market for a brand that was fun and energetic whilst also using the finest natural ingredients. Their signature scent of coconut and lime is a good example of that, a vibrant and refreshing fragrance that smells great and wakes you up for the day ahead. This Supreme Smoother face moisturiser is designed specifically to be used as part of a shaving routine, when your skin is thirsty for moisture. Made with oat oil for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties to soothe the skin post-shave as well as added argan oil for its rich moisturising capabilities to hydrate and nourish your skin. We particularly loved the little hint of menthol they’ve added, especially after a shave as it leaves your skin feeling tingly and refreshed.
To use: Take a pump of moisturiser and massage it into slightly damp skin, focusing on any known dry areas, and then let air dry.
Rapira Platinum Lux Replacement DE blades
Made in Russia, the platinum lux blades are a fantastic blade that are sharp whilst still being forgiving and have great longevity. Each blade has been platinum coated which helps to retain that edge for more shaves. A popular blade that will last between 4-7 shaves depending on the thickness of your beard type.
Bolzano Inossidiable Replacement DE blades
Never before featured in the subscription, Bolzano are a brand that were originally made in Italy but their manufacture has been moved over to Germany (never a bad thing!). They’re a relatively mild blade but are known for being very consistent from shave to shave. Each blade last 3-7 shaves
