Tired of reading about the end of the world as we know it? Check out our latest curated selection of classic wet shaving goodies instead and turn self-isolation into self-pampering. Scroll down to see what's going out to subscribers this month.

Subscription News:

We will soon be unveiling a new, lower priced tier to the subscription service. Whilst a lot of subscribers love discovering a new selection of male grooming products with each of their deliveries, after gathering feedback and speaking to past customers, it became clear that there's a portion of subscribers that can't afford the full box as regularly as they may need it.

So we’ve been looking at ways we can make the subscription more affordable and we’ve settled on an essentials tier that includes just shaving soap/cream and 10 blades. Overwhelmingly, feedback from subscribers was that they didn’t want to lose any variety so we will still be changing up the brands and scents that go in each box.

"Will the current full subscription box be removed?" No. We will still be running our popular subscription service as normal but we will be changing it’s name to the “discovery” box. It will continue to provide a curated selection of the best shaving products we've found, that changes with each delivery.

New here? The Personal Barber is the wet shaving delivery service that wants to turn your daily chore into a satisfying experience to look forward to.

We passionately believe that making the switch to a single-blade razor will change your whole outlook on shaving. Not only is it kinder on your skin, so you can achieve a close shave without razor burn or rash, but there’s something very satisfying about using a single-blade that just isn’t felt from a multi-blade razor.

So say goodbye to your polluting plastic cartridges and discover shaving the way it’s meant to be done.

Every 6 weeks, we curate a selection of only the finest wet shaving gear from all over the world, introducing you to the lesser known brands that you don’t see in the supermarkets.

Make the switch to one of our single blade razors (included free in your first box) and find out exactly what you’ve been missing:

  • Warm scented lathers and effortlessly close shaves.
  • A shave that’s kinder on your skin. Always suffered from a red neck? This is the best way to eliminate irritation!
  • Artisan creams, post-shave balms, colognes and more. Every kit is different to keep your grooming routine interesting.
  • A clean conscience. No more plastic cartridges that clog up landfills. Our blades are 100% recyclable.

Pre-shave box – Post-shave box – Extra-care box

Our latest kit is the “Pre-Shave Box” which will be going out to renewing subscribers between April 1st – May 15th. With this kit we usually feature a product such as a pre-shave cream or oil, designed to prep your beard before you slap a lather on and start shaving. We also feature an extra product that’s more long-lasting and tend to feature less than once a year, so it’s quite the exclusive box!

Join our men’s shaving club here before May 15th to get this kit (only whilst stocks last).

Sandalwood shaving soap subscription box feature

The Oxford Soap Company Sandalwood Shaving Soap RRP £10.95

The Oxford Soap Company are a boutique family business based in Oxford’s iconic Covered Market. Known for their focus on natural ingredients and high ethical standards such as in their zero waste range and commitment to reduce plastic packaging.

Their shaving soap has been carefully handmade in small batches. It provides an effortless, bountiful lather that cushions your skin from the blade and leaves it feeling silky smooth post-shave.

Interestingly, despite being a soap, some of the ingredients have been blended at a later stage which makes the final product closer to a cream in consistency. This makes it very moisturising and easy to whip into a lather. Blended with finest sandalwood oil which smells very soothing and gives it an old-school feel as sandalwood is traditionally used in a lot of older shaving soap recipes for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

To use: Take an almond sized dollop of soap and press it out into your shaving bowl or hand to increase the surface area. Using a slightly damp shaving brush, whip into a dense, meringue-like lather.

Ingredients: Aqua, Stearin, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis, Cocus nucifera, Potassium hydroxide, Sodium hydroxide, Sodium 2-hydroxy propionate, Parfum, Alpha-isomethylionone, Benzyl Benzonate, Cinnamal, Citral. Citronellol, Coumarin, Eugenol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool.

Shaving Oil MR Maseys subscription feature the personal barber

Mr Masey’s Cedarwood and Lime Pre-Shave Oil RRP £18

Mr Masey’s, based in Brighton, have been crafting a handmade range of male grooming products since 2014. What originally started as a project to make a vegan moustache wax has since grown to include beard care and shaving as well.

Their shaving oil is perfect for use pre-shave to properly soften the hairs and give your skin a bit of extra cushion and glide for the razor to easily pass over without leaving a hint of irritation.

Made from highest quality Grapeseed and Vitamin E oil to keep skin moisturised and healthy. It's also non-comodogenic so it won't clog pores or cause issues for sensitive skin. Cedarwood and lime essential oils give it its unique scent as well as contain anti-inflammatory properties that help to soothe and calm the skin after a shave.

To use: Take 3-4 drops of oil and massage into stubble. Let sit for 30 seconds whilst you whip up your shaving lather, and then apply on top.

Ingredients: Grapeseed oil, Vitamin E oil, Cedarwood essential oil, Lime essential oil

Styptic Pencil VieLong

Vielong Styptic Pencil RRP £3.95

Don’t let the size fool you, this is an indispensable piece of kit that will serve you for a very long time. We usually feature a styptic pencil once every 18 months.

A styptic pencil is made from Aluminium Potassium Sulfate, which is a natural stone that can be applied to nicks and cuts when shaving due to its ability to constrict the blood vessels and stop bleeding. They’re an essential product that all wet shavers need for those occasional accidents.

It differs from a standard alum block because the alum has been powdered and then shaped rather than being in its natural stone form. This makes it much more potent when being applied to a cut so it stops it more efficiently.

To use: After you have finished shaving and splashed your face with cold water, gently apply the balm over a shaving nick and hold for 10-20 seconds.
