OctoberNov18 The Personal Barber subscription box

Notice 08/10/18: The shaving creams for this month's kit have been heavily delayed due to an administrative shipping error that caused them to be sent to the Netherlands by mistake (and then briefly lost). After nearly 2 weeks of constant contact with the shipping company we have been informed that they are definitely on their way to us now and will be arriving this week, but this means that subscriber renewals and new subscribers will be delayed until the stock is received. We sincerely apologise for this delay but promise it will be worth the wait! We will upgrade all affected orders to first class delivery so you get your order as soon as possible.

Update 12/10/18: All the shaving creams have finally arrived and we have worked overtime to pack them up and get them out to subscribers. Thank you all so much for your patience.

We're very excited to unveil our latest subscription box featuring an exciting collection of shaving gear that will give you the smoothest shave imaginable.

In case you aren't aware of how the subscription works, every 6 weeks we supply a brand new curated selection of fine wet shaving gear to improve our subscribers' mundane morning ritual into an experience to savour. Each kit follows a theme but the goods inside are always different and include a wide range of products by top quality brands from around the world:

Pre-shave box - Post-shave box - Extra-care box

This month's kit is the "Pre-shave box" which features a pre-shave oil or cream that will make every shave effortlessly comfortable by adding another layer between your lather and skin to keep it protected and well moisturised. We also tend to feature a bonus item in this kit that will add a touch of sophistication to your routine. Check out the full list of items below:

Gentlemen's Shaving Soap Grevinnan's Rum

Grevinnan’s Rum Gentlemen's Shaving Soap

Grevinnan’s Rum is an artisanal soapmaker from Sweden that creates beautiful vegan, organic skincare products. This is a brand that really cares about ensuring they only use the finest quality ingredients that will benefit your skin and doesn’t come at the cost of the environment. That means no palm oil and no animal testing. Their old fashioned whipped shaving soap is a perfect example of this. Every soap has been lovingly made by hand and is suitable for all skin types. It’s quite soft and can be treated more like a cream as it very quickly creates a dense lather without much work. Despite being a vegan product we were very impressed with how stable and cushioning the lather was. A combination of shea butter, cocoa butter and aloe vera leave the skin feeling incredibly soft and moisturised post-shave as well as helping to prevent irritation. We particularly liked the sweet scent with hints of citrus as it’s quite different from many of the soaps we have featured recently.

To use: Take a slightly damp brush and load by gently swirling over the top of the soap for a few seconds. Then build your lather as normal either in your hand, a bowl or directly on the face with a few extra drops of water.

Admiral Lubricating pre shave oil

Admiral Grooming Lubricating Pre-Shave Oil

Admiral Grooming are an exciting British brand we featured last year when they first launched. They have an impressive set of high-end skincare products for men and so this time we’re featuring their pre-shave oil. We believe that adding a pre-shave oil to your routine will skyrocket your results, particularly if you have sensitive skin because it creates an extra barrier between the blade that reduces any chance of irritation. The Admiral oil is designed to deeply penetrate the skin and moisturise your facial hair, softening even the toughest beards so that the razor glides through without tugging. Using high quality olive extract which is packed with nourishing benefits and loaded with anti-ageing oxidants to keep skin youthful and healthy. A neutral scent means it won’t clash with your shaving cream and we love that it includes an old-school dropper cap rather than a pump to dispense the oil.

To use: Take a few drops of oil and rub into your beard hairs, let sink in for a minute before applying shaving cream on top.

Alum Styptic Balm Glyder

Glyder Styptic Balm

We’re very excited to introduce Glyder and their unique styptic balm which is quite possibly the first innovative alum product in a thousand years! A styptic pencil is usually made from Aluminium Potassium Sulfate in a powdered form that can be applied to nicks and cuts when shaving due to its ability to constrict the blood vessels and stop bleeding. They’re an essential product that all wet shavers need for those occasional accidents, but they tend to sting when applied. Glyder have taken the classic styptic pencil and combined it with ingredients used in military-grade wound care to create a balm that stops bleeding, aids healing and doesn’t sting. Aloe vera, vitamin e, tea tree oil, argan oil, and jojoba all help to promote the healing process and gives the balm a smooth consistency that doesn’t leave any chalky residue. In testing we were very impressed with Glyder’s product and we hope you are too.

To use: After you have finished shaving and splashed your face, gently apply the balm over a shaving nick like you would a lip balm.
